About Yesenia J. Moreno| Educator, Photographer, and Life-long Learner
Students joining Blueprint’s Pre-College Summer Program @ UCLA already have something to look forward to …. the coolest director on the planet!
Yesenia graduated with her Masters in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2008, and immediately put her degree to work as a Bilingual Elementary Teacher at a New York Public School in Harlem. Since graduating she remains dedicated to her studies by continuing to take courses at her Alma Mater in pedagogy and sociology. Just this Spring of 2013, she enrolled in a course titled the Sociology of Urban Education, which sums up her professional passion.

Besides studying, Yesenia enjoys putting miles on her shoes and in the 7 years that she lived in New York City she prides herself in saying she has walked from Harlem to Battery Park. She not only walks for enjoyment, but has recently began to capture her perspective of the city through her camera lens. She is still a novice to photography, but she is a fast learner and loves capturing nature at its best. In addition, there’s also no food that she will not try, at least once and owes her love for food to living in the Big Apple.
Having left her home state of California immediately after earning a Bachelors Degree at UC Santa Cruz in Sociology/Latin American & Latino Studies in 2006, she is ready to return and be close to family again and kick start a new profession in higher education. Yesenia is beyond enthusiastic to begin her return to the state of California with Blueprint Summer Pre-College Program 2013 as Program Director, especially after being the College-Prep Instructor in 2012 at George Washington University, DC and seeing the positive impact that a program like this can have on very potential and extremely amazing college-bound students.
