What is Blueprint?
A blueprint is something that acts as a plan, model, or template for something to be built in the future. Here at Blueprint Summer Programs we believe that students should be prepared for the future, not just for college success but for career and life success as well. All of our programs provide foundational academic skills that will lead to a fulfilling college experience and the soft skills that are required for living a healthy, productive, and independent life.
What is the Pre-College Summer Immersion?
Students attending our 1 or 2 week Pre-College Summer Immersion will choose two out of four exploratory courses to explore during the first week along with our signature College and Career Success (CCS) curriculum. Each day will be split into 4 class times – one for each exploratory course, one for CCS college prep, and one for CCS soft skills.
The exploratory courses (Behavioral Science, Business, Engineering and Medicine) are designed to give students both a broad overview of the various career options within a particular area of study, and an opportunity to work on projects within those specialties that will give students a snapshot of how they can apply learned skills in real life. We want students to leave our program with a clear understanding of the multitude of paths that can be chosen after high school.
Our two week students will dive deeper into the CCS curriculum and campus immersion through our CCS 201 and CCS 202 courses, where they will get a taste of various subjects that can be studied outside of their major.
Being a college student also means being a member of a larger community. Every Blueprint day will include time to explore the campus and each evening will include on-campus activities that help students understand the importance of engagement outside the classroom. Our two week students will even have the opportunity to attend a Sunday trip to a local amusement park or attraction.
What is Blueprint’s College and Career Success Curriculum (CCS)?
Our CCS course is broken down into 2 sections: Practical knowledge and skill development (or college prep) and soft skill development. We are confident that both of these areas are critical not just for college success but for success in life.
-
Practical Knowledge & Skill Development
Students will explore post-secondary options such as community colleges, 4 year colleges/universities, trade school programs, certification programs, and apprenticeships; how to pay for college; choosing a major/career; writing resumes and interviewing skills.
-
Soft Skills Knowledge & Development
Soft skills are those skills employers look for when hiring employees, and those skills that are necessary for living a healthy and independent life, such as: self-management, time management, goal setting, communication, problem solving, critical thinking and utilizing resources.
What are the Blueprint Pre-College Summer Programs Campuses?
Blueprint has selected 6 very special schools, each with a distinctive personality and its own approach to the kind of education you want to explore.
Out of the hundreds of schools in the United States, how did we select these? To start off, we share the philosophy that education is a life-long journey. We like the schools and they like us. We looked at everything from the culture to the beautiful tree-lined paths on campus.
Imagine the classic college campus, and you’ll envision any one of our program schools. Wooded areas and lush gardens. Historically significant architecture as well as state-of-the-art facilities. Our campuses also represent different regions. From the Northeast to the Westcoast, you’ll want to check out every one.
