You should know by now Blueprint prides itself on being three things. Personal. Innovative. And FUN! While learning can be fun (our instructors prove that every day!), sometimes you just need to get out of the classroom and off campus. So, every Friday, we’ll be taking a moment to tell you about our awesome trips! Each week we’ll highlight a different campus and share the places students will be going on our Wednesday and Super Sunday Field Trips.
One of the best things about going away to college is being able to explore the surrounding neighborhoods and cities. If you’re attending UF, that means taking full advantage of all the Sunshine State has to offer. Miles of beaches, beautiful historic cities, epic theme parks and lots and lots of sunshine.
1st Wednesday Roadtrip – Walt Disney World
We’re going to Disney World! After diving into your course work for 2 days straight, you’ll be ready to get off campus and let loose during our Wednesday field trip. Go soaring on Space Mountain. Get soaked on Splash Mountain. Get spooked at the Haunted Mansion.
Not one for rides? There’s plenty of other options. It’s the happiest place on earth after all! Get a hand-scooped ice cream cone on Main Street, USA. Learn to be a pirate at Jack Sparrow’s Tutorial Show. Or get the classic Disney experience with Mickey’s PhillharMagic.
Still want to learn a little bit? Tomorrowland has plenty of opportunities to discover new things. Especially for you future engineers!
If you were born and raised in Florida like I was, you may feel the urge to roll your eyes and groan about another trip to Disney. Maybe you even have season tickets like I did growing up? Get excited! There’s always something new and exciting to find at Disney. Plus, you’ll be going with all of your new friends, so it’s sure to be a memorable experience for everyone!
Super Sunday (Optional Trip) – St. Augustine & Beach
A summer in Florida wouldn’t be complete without a beach trip. And where better to go than the oldest city in Florida with miles of gorgeous coastline? Take time to unwind when we head to St. Augustine Beach, located on the edge of Anastasia State Park. Relax on the white sand beach, enjoy the salty scent of the ocean breeze or get in the water and ride the waves.
Not interested in sunbathing or salty water? There’s access to volleyball courts, the St. Johns Pier and shopping close by. After a day of soaking in the sun, get some grub at the Salt Life Food Shack.
4th of July – City of Alachua’s July 4th Celebration
Claimed to be “The Largest Small Town Fireworks Display in America,” students definitely won’t be missing out on any 4th of July celebrations! Just a short drive from campus, we’ll make the trip to Alachua for their renowned firework display. The celebration offers much more than just incredible pyrotechnics. Live music. Water slide. Spray park. Dancing groups and more. What better way to commemorate America’s independence than with a small-town festival?
2nd Wednesday Roadtrip – Ichetucknee Springs State Park
Do we even need to go into detail about this trip? Just look at it!
One of the most beautiful places in Florida, Ichetucknee Springs is a sight you don’t want to miss. The 6-mile river is fed by 8 natural springs. Students can escape the heat with a swim in the 72°F, crystal clear waters of the Blue Hole. Or take an easy hike through the shaded hammocks and wetlands of this unique ecosystem. You may even catch a glimpse of the local wildlife. From otters and beavers to alligators and turtles. After a couple hours here, you’ll be dying to go to UF, just so you can visit more!
