You should know by now Blueprint prides itself on being three things. Personal. Innovative. And FUN! While learning can be fun (our instructors prove that every day!), sometimes you just need to get out of the classroom and off campus. So, every Friday, we’ll be taking a moment to tell you about our awesome trips! Each week we’ll highlight a different campus and share the places students will be going on our Wednesday and Super Sunday Field Trips.
Though you’ll be living on a beautiful, green, 384-acre campus, it’s always nice to get away for a bit! Stonehill is close enough to enjoy all the benefits of Beantown (aka. Boston, just 22 miles away), without always being caught up in the business of a big city. We don’t want you to just experience life on campus this summer. Get a real feel for what life at Stonehill is really like (Boston trips included)!
4th Of July – Bridgewater Carnival & Fireworks
Sad about missing your family’s annual BBQ? Spend 4th of July with your new Blueprint family! Just a 20 minute ride away, we’ll be heading to Bridgewater, MA for their annual 4th of July carnival. And what’s more quintessentially American than catching the firework show from a local baseball field? We’ll make sure you eat great food, see a magnificent firework show and (of course!) have lots of fun!
1st Wednesday Roadtrip – Six Flags New England
From thrilling roller coasters to a wild water park to entertaining carnival games. Six Flags New England has it all! Be some of the first to ride on the groundbreaking, virtual reality coaster, SUPERMAN The Ride. It’s “equipped with wireless headsets that, while wearing, allow you enter a virtual world with high-resolution imagery and 360-degree views that synchronize to the action of the coaster.” You really don’t want to miss this one!
Not one for 80 mph speeds, zero-G rolls and 250 foot drops? Spend the day in Hurricane Harbor! Float down the lazy adventure river. Ride the waves in the Commotion Ocean. Or climb through the tropical island tree house. No matter what you choose to do, you’re sure to have a great time bonding with your new best friends.
Super Sunday (Optional Trip) – Franklin Park Zoo & Boston Harbor Cruise
Love animals? This trip is for you! We’ll start the day off at the Franklin Park Zoo, a 72-acre site with over 120 species. Don’t know what a Kori Bustard or a Bongo is? You will after this trip! Finish up your time at the zoo with lunch at the Giddy-Up Grill.
Next stop? Get a front row seat to some of the ocean’s largest and most magnificent animals during a Boston Harbor Cruise. Partnered with the New England Aquarium, the cruise will take you on a highspeed catamaran from Boston’s Central Wharf to Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary. You’re guaranteed to a whale while you’re out there, from humpbacks to minke whales to right whales and more! Plus, you’ll get to take in the historic city of Boston with a cruise around the harbor.
2nd Wednesday Roadtrip – Boston
Boston has it all! History, shopping, amazing food and breathtaking architecture. You’ll soon understand why Stonehill students love being so close to the city! Start your day at America’s iconic college campus: Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. You’ll get to tour campus, hitting all the highlights. Harvard Yard. The famous John Harvard Statue. And Widener Library.
We’ll then travel into the city to hit up two of Boston’s best attractions. Peek into life underwater at the New England Aquarium. See the Northern Fur Seals in action. Watch the Loggerhead Sea Turtles glide through the water. And try to catch a glimpse of the Giant Pacific Octopus in its brand new exhibit!
Next, we’ll head over to the Museum of Fine Arts. With art exhibits from all over the world, spanning from 6500 BC to contemporary pieces, including paintings, photography, musical instruments and even jewelry, there’s an exhibit to fit everyone’s taste.
