Have you spent a lot of time considering potential majors, but haven’t considered which electives will best help you excel in your major and career? Our 2 week students will have the oppurtunity to explore some of the courses that will make their resumes pop!
What are Electives?
A significant number of courses that students must take in college are electives, or courses not directly related to their major. Currently, educators suggest that students take elective courses that will help them become more marketable in the workforce. From humanities to mathmatics to literature, there is something for everyone!
Intro to Electives with Blueprint Summer Programs
Every college students needs to take some General Education requirements. While some are standard, others are Electives – meaning students get to chose which classes to take. During the second week of our Pre-College Summer Immersion, we will help students explore some options, including:

- civic/global leadership.
Like all of our courses, exploring electives with Blueprint is fun and engaging. You get top-notch instructors who love to teach. No homework. No tests. No worries! It’s a great way to explore your interests with zero pressure to perform. Join us, and get ready for college!
What is the Pre-College Summer Immersion?
Students attending our 1 or 2 week Pre-College Summer Immersion will choose two out of four major concentration courses to explore during the first week along with our signature College and Career Success (CCS) curriculum. The day will be split into 4 class times – one for each concentration course, one for CCS college prep, and one for CCS soft skills.
Our two week students will dive deeper into the CCS curriculum and campus immersion, which will be enhanced with the Introduction to Electives course, where they will get a taste of various subjects that can be studied outside of their major.
In addition, every Blueprint day will include time to explore the campus and each evening will include on-campus activities that help students understand the importance of engagement outside the classroom.
What is Blueprint’s College and Career Success Curriculum (CCS)?
Our CCS course is broken down into 2 sections: Practical knowledge and skill development (or college prep) and soft skill development. We are confident that both of these areas are critical not just for college success but for success in life. Students will explore post-secondary options, how to pay for college, choosing a major/career, writing resumes, interviewing skills, time management, goal setting, communication, problem solving, utilizing resources and more.
