Meet The Team

What sets Blueprint apart from other pre-college programs? It’s the staff. Really. We specialize in creating a wonderful community from all walks of life. And we don’t leave anything to chance. Our standards are so high, our selection process so thoughtful, we simply sum it up like this: “Blueprint hires angels.” We’re a team dedicated to helping students get ready for college (and beyond!).

Michael Dodson

Michael Dodson

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer

As Blueprint‘s Chief Executive Officer, Michael is responsible for Blueprint’s longterm development and strategy. After transferring from UVM, Michael received a degree in political science from Emory University. Although not a part of his original college plans, he studied in Italy and Egypt. He worked as an options trader at the New York Board of Trade before developing summer programs in 2005. Michael founded Blueprint with Justin in 2007.

Co-Founder & Chief Enrollment Officer

As Blueprint’s Chief Enrollment Officer, Justin is responsible for the company’s sales, marketing and recruiting efforts. He received his ABJ in telecommunications from the University of Georgia and took on the world as a journalist in New York City. He switched gears in 2003 to follow his family’s tradition of working in education and consulted with colleges in need of pre-college programs. Justin has been operating pre-college summer programs for 13 years and founded Blueprint with Michael in 2007.

Chris Foy

Chief Financial Officer

As Blueprint’s Chief Financial Officer, Chris is responsible for all company financial functions and controls. He received his MBA from the University of South Carolina where he also received his undergraduate in Accounting and Management. Chris has over 10 years of diverse accounting and financial experience as a Manager, Controller and CFO in industries including construction, manufacturing, insurance and investments.

Todd Muller

Todd Muller

Director of Human Resources

Todd is excited to become part of the Blueprint team, serving as the Director of Human Resources. His main areas of focus are overseeing the Human Resources Department and recruiting the best program staff possible! Todd has his Bachelor‘s Degree from Penn State University and his Master’s Degree from Marist College. He spent over 15 years in the staffing, recruitment and IT industries before joining Blueprint in 2017. He is very excited to be working with such a talented team and privileged to be helping students get ready for one of the most exciting and rewarding times of their lives. When he is not working, he can be found having fun with his wife and three children, hiking, biking or just hanging around.

Clinton Dorsey

Program Operations Manager

With a passion to help others pave their way through this life, Clinton joins the Blueprint team as the Program Operations Manager. He is in charge of making sure the experience is one to remember and that each program runs as smoothly as possible. He carries a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration. With an arts background, experience in education and a passion to counsel and lead, what better way to integrate these talents than to assist students in creating a Blueprint for their future college endeavors?! When not creating logistical magic, Clinton can be found hiking, camping or tubing when staying local; A hippy at heart. When not exploring local, he quenches his thirst with planning is next international travel exploration. There’s a lot to learn and experience in this beautiful world we live in!

As soon as you meet our staff, you’ll want to skip the handshake and go for a hug – they are that thoughtful, nice, fun, down-to-earth and personal. And they are the ones who make this experience such an incredible journey for every Blueprint student. You want cool, caring and awesome summer mentors this year? You’ll find them right here.

For each campus, Blueprint hires its own skilled crew of directors, teachers, resident advisors and medical staff. Blueprint works tirelessly to coordinate with program school staff, scheduling activities, planning events and much more. Even our behind-the-scenes office workers strive to make your experience comfortable and convenient.

But all of the work we do, the relationships we form and the programs we develop, revolves around a single, guiding force – helping students learn about college, about life and about themselves. It’s the blueprint for our success. And for yours.

Marcus Dumas

Marcus Dumas

Academic Coordinator - UF

Marcus Dumas, a former military brat, is currently a student at The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), Georgia Campus. He is studying the Biomedical Sciences with a concentration on Organization Development and Leadership. A Health Educator by training, Marcus enjoys working with youth and young adults, which led him to a position as a Professor at Georgia Perimeter College teaching courses in both Public Health and Personal & Community Health. He loves the fact that he gets to develop future leaders. With his strong faith, soon his aspiration will become reality. To keep him focused on his mission of being an agent of change he has uses the following mantra to encourage him daily, “ASPIRE TO INSPIRE BEFORE YOU EXPIRE!”

Derek Johnson

Derek Johnson

Program Director - UVA

Derek received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Strayer University in 2006. After working for both AARP and NPR respectively as a Business Processes Improvement Manager, he decided to follow his passion and become an elementary educator. He spent a few years abroad in South Korea, teaching English as Foreign Language. In 2011, Derek decided to return back home to the USA, where he entered into graduates studies. He obtained a master degree in TESOL from the School for International Training and a master degree in Social Justice Education from Marlboro College, both in Brattleboro, Vermont. Now a Maryland Public School Teacher, Derek spends most of his time educating tomorrow‘s future. During the his down time, he’s globetrotting around the world, snapping awesome photographs (Instagram @wingedtraveler78) and making amazing memories along the way.

KuWanda Brathwaite

Gold. Snacks. Smiling. The three things KuWanda Brathwaite’s (most commonly known as KB) friends, coworkers, and strangers all seem to remember her by. KB currently lives in the DMV area, and works as a School Counselor, in Southeast DC. KB attended Syracuse University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Information Management & Technology. She then went on to receive my Masters of Education from Howard University in Counseling Psychology.

KB is extremely passionate about student voice and exposing young adults, to people, places, and events, they wish or dream about. It is one of her life’s missions, to bridge the gap between young people and adults.

KB is excited to return to Blueprint for another fun filled summer, this time as Program Director at UF Session B.

Joy Stevenson

Joy Stevenson

Program Director - UF Session C

Joy has extensive experience working with youth from infancy to young adults in the Prince Georges County, Maryland and DC Public Schools. Having received a Master‘s Degree in Human Services Counseling, she’s been able to utilize her counseling, program management and leadership skills in a variety of arenas that have proven to be beneficial in the lives of youth. An administrator, author, youth advocate and motivational speaker with a passion to "extract greatness and to develop potential" in this generation of potential leaders. Joy‘s energy and compassion for students is clearly demonstrated as she captivates them with transparency, integrity and confidence. Joy is also the President/Founder of Catch Them Young, Inc. (CTY) an organization that has been given a mandate to train and equip today’s millennial youth. CTY has partnered with schools, community centers, churches, and various organizations within the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Jylani Brown

Jylani Brown

Program Director - UCLA Session A

As a veteran educator, Jylani brings years of experience working within public, private, and independent schools. She is extremely deliberate about integrating diverse literature and culturally relevant content into the programming. Her work with children and the community of adults that support them reflects opportunities to connect mindfulness to spiritual, mental and physical wellness. Social justice and issues of global competence are frequent themes that encourage preliminary and deeper contemplation.

As a woman, mother and teacher of African descent, Jylani takes pride in creating space for her cultural heritage and expression to be an integral part of her practice. Jylani encourages and facilitates programs that offer every participant the opportunity to fully see themselves in the moment and to honor their culture in their practice as well. Jylani views mindfulness as a tool for peace, wellness, justice and education. She believes the more connections we make to our practice, the greater the realization for connections with others around the world.
